Summary of Position
The Business Intelligence Analyst I (BIA) is responsible for assisting in the creation and maintenance
of Power BI dashboards, reports, and basic data models. Under guidance, the BIA will help present
findings to stakeholders and contribute to the development of self-service reporting tools. This role
works closely with other business units to support reporting needs and complete assigned tasks and
projects.
Principal Accountabilities and Functions
Supports the design and maintenance of Power BI dashboards, reports, and data models.
Assists in creating data visualizations to support understanding of key metrics and trends.
Creates basic recurring and ad-hoc reports using data from our enterprise data warehouse and various
systems of record.
Supports requirements gathering and helps create data models based on stakeholder needs.
Collaborates with IT/InfoSec teams to ensure data integrity and security.
Develops basic/intermediate reports and visualizations using Power BI and Power Query.
Stays current with new Power BI features and best practices.
Assists senior analyst(s) in solving business problems using basic analytical and technical methods.
Supports evaluation of third-party tools and services under the direction of senior staff.
Performs related duties when assigned.
Required Qualifications
BS in computer science, business intelligence or related field
Minimum 2 years of experience developing BI solutions
Microsoft Power BI Experience with Azure Data Services is a plus
Experience with scripting and programming languages such as Python is a plus
Experience with Microsoft Business Intelligence stack is a plus
Or, an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Strong understanding of data modeling and ETL processes
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Proficient in writing DAX queries on the Power BI desktop
Strong proficiency with SQL (DDL, DML, & stored procedures)
Business Intelligence Analyst l
Knowledge of and successful demonstrated experience with MS Office Products, i.e. Access, Excel,
Word, PowerPoint.
Working knowledge of Relational Database Software. Demonstrated ability to apply knowledge of
databases (i.e. MSSQL, Oracle, Access).
Demonstrated proficiency in database management.
Familiarity with statistical analysis techniques and statistical software.
Ability to enter data, sort, and extract information from database systems.
Ability to manipulate, query, and analyze large quantities of data and present it in simple, insightful,
actionable summarized documents.
Demonstrated ability to apply knowledge of financial institution systems, including core processing,
job scheduling, and data sets.
Ability to create and modify word-processing and spreadsheet documents using formulas and data
