Transportation Engineer (Roadway Design)

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES: As a Transportation Engineer, your responsibilities will encompass:

• Assisting in the planning and design of transportation-related facilities.
• Designing roadway alignments, 3D models, intersections, drainage, utilities, and transportation facilities using industry-standard software.
• Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to develop comprehensive transportation plans and designs.
• Developing roadway geometry and cross sections.
• Preparing engineering calculations and technical reports.
• Preparing engineering plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
• Ensuring projects adhere to quality control and safety standards.
• Leading multiple tasks from preliminary design to construction support.
• Preparing contract task order proposals.
• Conducting field visits during design and/or construction.
• Participating in client and public meetings.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering
• 5+ years of experience in transportation facility and highway design
• Experience working with Maryland Department of Transportation, Virginia Department of Transportation, and Maryland city/county government transportation projects
• Proficiency in MicroStation, AutoCAD, Bentley InRoads, Autodesk Civil 3D, and AutoTURN
• Maryland or Virginia Professional Engineer license
• Excellent oral and written communication
• Excellent presentation skills
• Knowledge of AASHTO, FHWA, VDOT, and MDOT design codes and standards
