Join one of Prince George’s County’s premier specialty athletics complexes and help inspire athletes of all ages and skill levels in a dynamic, supportive environment. The Department of Parks and Recreation, Prince George’s County Aquatics and Athletic Facilities Division (AAFD) is seeking enthusiastic and knowledgeable Gymnastics Instructors to join our team at Fairland Sports & Aquatics Complex. If you love gymnastics and want to teach what you love, this is the perfect opportunity to make a positive impact while doing something you’re passionate about.
Instructional areas may include, but are not limited to:

  •  Recreational Gymnastics (girls artistic, boys artistic, trampoline, tumbling, parkour, and ninja)
  •  Competitive Gymnastics (artistic coaches – boys, girls, trampoline & tumbling coaches)

Examples of Important Duties

  • Develop and deliver engaging, age-appropriate gymnastics instruction
  • Provide exceptional customer service to participants and families
  • Maintain accurate attendance and track student skill development
  • Communicate effectively with staff, participants, and parents/guardian
  • Lead all scheduled classes in a timely and professional manner
  • Ensure a safe, clean, and organized training environment
  • Attend all required trainings, meetings, and program events

Minimum Qualifications

Required

  • Must be at least 16 years of age
  • Reliable transportation
  • Combination of education, experience, or certifications relevant to gymnastics
Preferred
  • Experience managing or supervising a gymnastics or recreational program
  • Previous coaching or instructional experience in gymnastics, tumbling, or related sports

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with diverse populations
  • Ability to teach fundamental gymnastics skills (tumbling, balance, flexibility, coordination)
  • Ability to create a fun, safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment
  • Prior experience teaching gymnastics, tumbling, cheer, or working with children in a sports setting (gymnastics experience preferred).
  • Competitive-level coaches must demonstrate advanced knowledge in their discipline
  • Knowledge of gymnastics techniques, progressions, and safety standards
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • USA Gymnastics (USAG) certifications (or willingness to obtain)
Work hours
  • Part-time, year-round seasonal hours
  • Flexible schedule includes evenings, weekdays, and weekends. Fairland is open year-round
Working Conditions/Environmental
  • Work is performed primarily in an indoor gymnastics facility, with occasional outdoor activities
  • Knowledge of gymnastics techniques, progressions, and safety standards
  • Active environment requiring physical movement, spotting athletes, and demonstrating skills
  • Exposure to moderate noise levels and high activity areas
  • May require standing, walking, bending, and lifting equipment
